What are credit alerts?

Once you’ve registered for Credit Report monitoring, every week Experian will notify you by email or SMS if there are any significant changes to your credit file. Significant changes include the opening of a new bank account, the closing of an existing account, a new credit search etc. These alerts can help provide an early warning of any unauthorised activity on your credit file. If you don’t receive an alert, no significant changes will have been recorded.

What is my credit report?

Your credit report provides information about your financial credit history, it shows the details of the financial accounts held in your name at the relevant credit reference agency along with your payment history and a record of any searches carried out by companies looking to provide you credit.

Separate registration (after purchase confirmation) is required for your credit alerts and report services. This enables validation of your details with Experian, our chosen credit report expert.

How do the key fobs and passport stickers help to recover my items if they are ever lost or stolen?

Each fob and sticker features a unique reference code and a freephone number. Anyone who finds your missing keys or passport can call the freephone number and we’ll arrange for them to be sent back to us. We’ll notify you to say they have been found using the number we log against your account when we issue the fobs.

How long do the effects of identity theft and fraud last? Should I worry?

The effects of identity theft may not be immediately evident, but the effects can last years and could affect you when you go through things such as mortgage applications/renewals, credit card applications and finance for product purchases. Once identity theft is identified it can take weeks or longer to resolve the situation and would require considerable effort.

Identity theft is a subject to be concerned and watchful over, but with Identiguard®, you can rest assured that should the worst happen, we’ll be there to help correct things.
